Malaysia bound: Aimar set for Far East switch.
One-time Al Ahli target Pablo Aimar is set to finalise his move to Malaysian Super League side Johor Darul Takzim on Tuesday.
The Argentine playmaker, 33, will pen a one-year deal with Johor after leaving Portuguese giants Benfica at the end of last season.
Aimar was close to a move to Dubai giants Ahli last January but the Arabian Gulf League side pulled out of a deal after failing to agree a fee with Benfica.
Johor Crown Prince, Tunku Ismail, confirmed over the weekend that the club were close to signing former Argentina international, who has also starred for Valencia, Real Zaragona and River Plater during his career.
Aimar will not be the first big-name to pull on the Johor's shirt after Spain international Dani Guiza enjoyed a loan spell at the club earlier this year. The 32-year-old scored six goals in 10 league appearances but has has since returned to parent club Getafe.
