30/5/2012: Sport, a newspaper based in Barcelona, thinks ambitious French side PSG want to make a major splash in the transfer market this summer.
After accepting Lionel Messi is an unrealistic target, they are said to
be weighing up a €150million approach, taking into account fee and
salary, for Wayne Rooney. has spoken at a press
conference about rumours suggesting the Reds are lining up a summer bid
for his services. The Everton man said: "The United link is flattering.
There is no harm in people talking about it because it is a great club.
But I'm at a great club as well, a club that I love."
The Daily Mail has got a little carried away on the transfer front this morning. It claims a £17million deal has been struck to land Shinji Kagawa and yet the Reds still want Luka Modric from
Spurs and are trying to drive down the £35million asking price. There's
also the suggestion that Sir Alex wants a left-back and is competing
with Manchester City for Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse. An enquiry was reportedly made for Wesley Sneijder
in January but a fee couldn't be agreed with Inter Milan so City are
now primed to buy the Dutchman. And there's more - United and Sunderland
have allegedly made enquiries for City winger Adam Johnson. Finally, Bayer Leverkusen have apparently ruled out a bid for Dimitar Berbatov!
